Worcestershire CCC Academy pathway player, Oliver Davidson, produced a series of outstanding performances for Scotland Under-19s in their ICC World Cup European Qualifying Group.
The left-arm spinner picked up 14 wickets in only four games in the week-long tournament at Desert Springs in Spain.
He had remarkable overall figures of 39.4-8-94-14 at an average of just 6.71 runs per wicket and an economy rate of only 2.36 runs per over.
But Davidson and his teammates missed out on a place in next year’s tournament in the West Indies after being beaten in the final by Ireland.
Bromsgrove School pupil Davidson began the week by taking 3-21 in 10 overs in the eight wicket win against Jersey and followed it with 3-28 from 10 overs in a six wicket success over the Netherlands.
The 17-year-old then produced his best figures of the week, 5-23 in 9.4 overs in the group meeting with Ireland, although Scotland went down by 95 runs.
Davidson was also amongst the wickets in the return meeting with Ireland in the European Final and ended with 10-5-22-3.
But his efforts proved in vain as Ireland went onto win by 78 runs.
Worcestershire CCC Academy Coach, Elliot Wilson, said: “Oliver had a really good tournament, even though Scotland just missed out on qualifying, and he has performed well for us.”
