Charlotte Thornton Smith brings over two decades of legal and leadership expertise to Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s board, enhancing the club’s governance and compliance structures. She began her career at HCR Law in 2001, qualifying as a solicitor in 2003, and has since progressed to become a Partner within the Corporate team, where she specialises in M&A transactions, corporate governance, and restructurings. As head of the Worcester office of HCR Law—a firm with deep-rooted ties to Worcester spanning more than a century—Charlotte contributes her strategic insight and legal acumen to the club’s executive team.
At the club, Charlotte focuses on upholding robust governance practices, ensuring adherence to ECB standards, and refining compliance efforts, aiming to secure a sustainable foundation for long-term growth. Her personal commitment to equal opportunities in sports, particularly in cricket, is driven by her two young children’s involvement in local club cricket. A resident of Worcestershire for 20 years, she is passionate about creating an inclusive environment for young talent, advocating for equal opportunities for boys and girls, and fostering a high-performing, community-connected club.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Charlotte finds balance by staying active and enjoying the outdoors. Looking ahead, she envisions Worcestershire County Cricket Club as a leading, sustainable force within the county, committed to nurturing homegrown talent and maintaining strong ties to the community.
