After languishing in the background for too long, the historic old scoreboard at the Diglis End of New Road once again became centre stage this season, with a full-scale renovation offering it a new lease of life.
Now home to the official Worcestershire CCC Club shop, the scoreboard sits in the heart of the newly minted ‘Scoreboard Plaza’, the ever-growing fan zone with everything supporters need to enjoy their matchday experience.
The Club would like to place on record their thanks to all supporters and visitors who’ve purchased items from the new shop. Following the record-breaking start to the year, when kit launch sales were up a staggering 571% with multiple sell-outs, the launch of the new shop in April has seen retail performance improve by 30% compared to this time last year.

Project Case study
Stadium Support Services (SSS), which joined the Club as Official Project Partners back in February, played a pivotal role in installing the newly refurbished and restored shop in time for the first home match of the season.
SSS have operated for over 20 years, specialise in commercial fitouts and reactive maintenance, and work across some of the country’s most elite sporting venues, including Twickenham, The Oval, and The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
After being approached by the club, their task became clear: restore the building to its former glory in a way that accommodated and adapted to the ever-increasing challenges posed by multiple winter floods.
Every internal fixture, point-of-sale system and display element was designed for straightforward removal once the season ended. New glazed shopfront windows and entrance doors were installed to maximise visibility, creating a brighter, more welcoming retail environment while preserving the character of the original structure.
In addition, the electrical installation was carefully planned so that services were fed from above rather than through floor-level connections, helping to minimise potential flood damage. Durable wall and floor finishes were also specified to allow for quick cleaning, repairs and redecorating between seasons, ensuring the space could be efficiently prepared each year.
The completed retail unit was fully operational, stocked with merchandise, and ready to welcome supporters in time for the opening home match of the season, and it has received plenty of acclaim and positive feedback from visitors.
According to Worcestershire’s Chief Revenue Officer, Joe Tromans, Stadium Support Services played a critical role in the Shop’s success.
“Here at New Road, we must think about the flooding whenever we build at ground level, and Stadium Support Services’ expertise from stadiums all around the country was pivotal in making the building as good as it can be.
“This has helped us preserve our heritage asset and bring retail to the forefront simultaneously, making the building a key part of Scoreboard Plaza, and enhancing our ever-evolving visitor and matchday experience. I’d also like to thank all the members, supporters and visitors who’ve visited and purchased from the shop – your support is much appreciated.”
