Worcestershire Women’s Rapids can today confirm that Chloe Hill, will be stepping down as Captain.

Hill, said the decision was a difficult one, but reflects positively on the achievements of the past few years.

“Stepping down as captain of this team has been an extremely difficult decision.

“I have some great memories of captaining the Worcestershire, including winning the ECB T20, and It’s been a brilliant group of players to lead.

“There is lots of cricket coming our way this Summer, and I will be right behind the next girl who steps into the role and hope to help the Club win many more games of cricket this year and in the future.”

Since making her Worcestershire debut in 2016, the wicket-keeper batter has been an almost ever present in the side.

Head Coach, Ed Wilson, hopes the decision will help Hill, get back to her best.

“Chloe has led the Club superbly over many years, and the whole Club thanks her for her dedication and commitment to the role, and congratulate her on leading the team to multiple successes over the years.

“She has led by example throughout, and I am sure she will continue to do so.

“Ultimately, we must now move forward as a group and focus our attentions on the next block of games.”

The Rapids have endured a mixed start to the season, losing their most recent three fixtures after winning the opening two fixtures at Yorkshire and Leicestershire.

The Rapids return to Vitality Blast action at Visit Worcestershire New Road, on June 8, in a double-header day T20 cricket against Derbyshire and Northamptonshire.

A decision on who will take over the captaincy will be announced in due course.
