JACK HAYNES EARNS CALL-UP TO THE HUNDRED AS OVAL INVINCIBLES WILDCARD SELECTION

Worcestershire batter, Jack Haynes, will be participating in The Hundred for the first time this summer.

Oval Invincibles have snapped up Haynes as a domestic wildcard pick for the 2022 campaign during August.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a successful season for Worcestershire Rapids in the Vitality Blast, topping the batting averages with 235 runs with a strike rate of 146.87 before missing the last five matches through injury.

He follows in the footsteps of current teammates Dillon Pennington and Pat Brown, who played for the Birmingham Phoenix last summer.

His Oval Invincibles teammates will include Jason Roy, Sam and Tom Curran, Sunil Narine and Sam Billings.

The Invincibles, who represent the counties of Surrey and Kent, finished fourth in the inaugural competition in 2021.

Jack Haynes said: “I have learnt so much playing for Worcestershire this season off a top-class international player in Azhar Ali.

“Now, I have the opportunity to gain experience with several leading international players in The Hundred in a hugely exciting and challenging competition.

“It is a great challenge, and hopefully, I will gain invaluable knowledge from the experience, which will benefit Worcestershire and me when I return for an exciting end to the season in the LV=Insurance County Championship.”
