With the Metro Bank One Day Cup quickly honing into view, preparations are in full swing for the Club’s annual celebration of ‘Blue for Bakes Weekend’.
Whilst New Road readies itself to continue Josh Baker’s legacy, Matt Foden has already shown his dedication to the cause by completing an extraordinary individual feat.
At the start of the month, Bromsgrove man Matt took on the seismic challenge of cycling the length of Wales to raise funds for the JB33 Foundation.
Taking the time once a year to support a local charity, this year Matt decided to push his limits and take to the road, pavement, hills and a handful of ‘off-piste terrain’ to complete the mammoth 300km trail.
Travelling from Holyhead to Chepstow, Matt endured over 5,000ft of climbing on his way to Cardiff on Sunday, 5th July, where he completed his inspirational solo endeavour at Sophia Gardens, where Worcestershire Rapids were playing against Glamorgan in the Vitality T20 Blast.
Passing incredible landmarks such as Harlech Castle and Tintern Abbey, Matt battled through two gruelling days with grit and determination to be welcomed into Cardiff by Josh’s parents, Paul and Lisa, as well as the entire Worcestershire CCC squad who showed their appreciation for his utterly remarkable efforts.
After completing the truly inspiring challenge, we caught up with Matt to chat through the highs and lows of the journey, how the fundraising is going and what supporters can do to donate and raise awareness.
Matt’s donation page is still live and if you would like to show your support for his wonderful achievement and the JB33 Foundation, please follow this link.
