Worcestershire County Cricket Club is delighted to confirm a new, exciting partnership with local independent business Mr D’s Olde Sweetshop, bringing a taste of Worcestershire heritage to supporters on matchdays at New Road.
As part of the partnership, a selection of Mr D’s traditionally crafted sweets will now be available to purchase from the Club Shop, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy their locally inspired products as part of their matchday experience.
Mr D’s Olde Sweetshop is an independent, family-owned vendor specialising in traditional sweets, confectionery and specialist liquorice.
Based on Worcester High Street, close to the iconic Worcester Cathedral, the business is owned and run by husband-and-wife team Aleks and Alex, who share a passion for celebrating the very best of Worcestershire.
The partnership holds special significance for the couple, with cricket and the Club already playing important roles in their lives.
Aleks is a lifelong Worcestershire supporter, having grown up watching Club legends including Graeme Hick and Tom Moody at New Road, before experiencing another memorable moment when he was at Trent Bridge to witness Worcestershire’s unforgettable One Day Cup triumph last year.
Partner Alex, meanwhile, became an enthusiastic cricket fan after attending her first T20 match at New Road.
Owner Aleks said: “Worcestershire County Cricket Club has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, so this partnership is incredibly special.
“I’ve made so many great memories supporting the Club. To now be partnering with Worcestershire through our own business is something we’re immensely proud of.”
Partner Alex added:
“I didn’t grow up following cricket, but after my first T20 match at New Road I was completely hooked.
The atmosphere and community around the Club are fantastic, and we’re delighted that supporters will now be able to enjoy some of our Worcestershire-inspired sweets as part of their matchday experience.”
Supporters will be able to enjoy a range of Mr D’s locally inspired sweets, with traditionally made hard-boiled sweets celebrating the flavours and heritage of Worcestershire.
The collection includes favourites inspired by locations including Worcester and the Malvern Hills, creating a unique link between local produce, community and cricket.
Partnership Sales Manager at Worcestershire County Cricket Club, Bryony Harris, said the synergy of values makes the partnership even more aligned.
“Both Worcestershire County Cricket Club and Mr D’s Olde Sweetshop share strong local roots and a commitment to celebrating the community around them.
“The partnership reflects a shared passion for heritage, quality and creating memorable experiences for supporters and visitors alike”
Worcestershire County Cricket Club looks forward to welcoming Mr D’s Olde Sweetshop into the Club family and sharing their much-loved products with supporters throughout the season.
