No play was possible on day two of Worcestershire’s Rothesay County Championship clash against Lancashire, as rain prevented any action at Southport.
Set to resume the search for early Lancashire wickets this morning after closing day one 28-0, the Pears were denied their opportunity to take the field with heavy downpours before the scheduled start of play forcing the umpires to call an early lunch.
With the rain persisting and no let up in sight, the decision was made at 2:35pm that play would be abandoned for the day.
Alan Richardson’s side will return tomorrow morning hoping for some better conditions, with play set to resume at 11am.
