‘Blue for Bakes’ celebration set for 2026 return!

Published 16/05/2026

Worcestershire County Cricket are delighted to confirm that the annual ‘Blue for Bakes’ celebration will be returning this summer, between Friday 31st July and Sunday 2nd August.

The Club will be coming together across the weekend, to commemorate Josh Baker at both the respective Men’s and Women’s matches, whilst raising funds for the JB33 foundation.

After his tragic passing in 2024, his parents, Paul and Lisa, launched the JB33 Foundation in Josh’s memory to support local cricket clubs across the region, including providing essential safety equipment such as life-saving defibrillators.

This year will see both Worcestershire Men’s and Women’s sides play fixtures across an entire weekend dedicated to the JB33 Foundation.

On Friday 31st July, Worcestershire Rapids will entertain Middlesex at New Road in the group stage of the Metro Bank One Day Cup, whilst Worcestershire Women’s Rapids will play host to Kent Women at the Josh Baker Oval on Sunday 2nd August.

In similar vein to the inaugural 2025 celebration, all supporters at both fixtures are encouraged to wear blue wherever possible, with players from both Worcestershire teams set to wear commemorative caps during play.

Josh’s parents Paul and Lisa will be in attendance at New Road and the Josh Baker Oval, manning a JB33 Foundation stall, where supporters can learn more about the work being completed by the volunteers to raise both awareness and funds.

The Club are working collaboratively with the Foundation to develop a wide array of opportunities for people to get involved across the weekend and will announce more details closer to the event.

Eager to build on the success of last year’s celebration, Worcestershire’s CEO Ashley Giles says the meaning behind the weekend is a touching reminder of Josh’s legacy.

“Josh will forever be a part of the family here at Worcestershire, so to be able to both honour him and support Paul and Lisa, as well as the JB33 Foundation again is something the whole Club is very proud to do.

“The cause means a lot to everyone at New Road, from the players and coaches to the support staff and supporters themselves.

“Last year created a very special atmosphere around the ground, so to be able to branch out to Astwood Bank Cricket Club this year and remember Josh at the Josh Baker Oval is very poignant.

“I am certain everyone involved will come together to make it a very special day.”
