WORCESTERSHIRE UNDER-17S ENJOY SUCCESSFUL TRIP TO WEST INDIES

Worcestershire Under-17s won four of their six matches during their latest trip to the West Indies.

Academy coaches David Banks and David Manning were in charge for the 11-day trip which took in a mixture of T20 and limited overs cricket.

They did battle in five matches against St Lucia Under-17s and one versus a Schools Select X1 with the action taking place at the Darren Sammy Stadium-Gros Islet.

In Game One, Charlie Greening (3-20), George Marshall (2-14) and Seb Smith (2-23) bowled out St. Lucia Under-17s for 125 in 38.5 overs.

Alex Hinkley’s 42 was largely responsible for Worcestershire reaching 131-7 in 33.3 overs in reply.

In Game Two, Edward Bragg hit 56 not out and Harry Baddams made 37 as Worcestershire totalled 151-6 in their 30 overs.

Henry Marshall (2-32) and Bragg (2-9) were the most successful bowlers as the Schools Select X1 won by four wickets with three overs to spare.

In Game Three, Baddams top-scored with 79 and added 118 for the third wicket with Hinkley (61) in a total of 233-8 in 40 overs.

Smith (2-19) and Greening (2-25) helped bowl out St. Lucia Under-17s for 113 in 35.2 overs.

Worcestershire then won back to back T20 games on the same day.

In Game Four, Smith had figures of 3-8 from three overs as St. Lucia Under-17s were restricted to 104-7.

Dan Meredith top-scored for Worcestershire who won by five wickets with three balls to spare.

In Game Five, Baddams made 37 of Worcestershire’s 129-6 and then Aaron Tomson, 3-11 in four overs, and Henry Marshall, 2-14 in four overs, restricted St. Lucia Under-17s to 97-8.

The final match saw Luke Tulacz (3-26), Tomson (2-23) and Ollie Timperley (2-17) amongst the wickets as St. Lucia Under-17s totalled 196 all out in 34 overs.

Worcestershire were 80-1 in reply with Dan Holland and Fergus Roll both scoring 32 but they were dismissed for 143 in 28.4 overs.
