WORCESTERSHIRE OPENER JOSH DELL MAKES SUCCESSFUL START ON COMEBACK TRAIL

Worcestershire batter Josh Dell started on the comeback trail in a successful fashion after missing the first part of the season through injury.

Dell tasted his first action of 2022 when he played for Ombersley in their Birmingham and District Premier League Premier Division One match with Kenilworth Wardens.

The opener suffered a broken finger during pre-season training with Worcestershire.

But he quickly made his mark at the crease in hitting 49 not out to help Ombersley to a six wicket success.

Dell hit nine fours in his 59-ball knock as Ombersley chased down a 92 target in 21.3 overs.

Former Worcestershire all-rounder, Gareth Andrew, had taken 5-20 as Kenilworth were dismissed for 91 in 30 overs.

Worcestershire keeper-batter fought a lone hand in the opening role for Kenilworth as he continued his fine form in making 51 off 74 balls with one six and five fours before he was ninth out.

Cullen had batted throughout the final day of Worcestershire’s Seconds match with Leicestershire in the Second Eleven Championship earlier in the week to earn a draw.

Worcestershire pace bowler, Dillon Pennington, made a rare appearance for Shrewsbury in their meeting with Berkswell.

He went to the wicket at number five and made an unbeaten 29 off 34 deliveries as Shrewsbury reached 155-4 from 36 overs against Berkswell before rain forced the game to be abandoned.
