Worcestershire County Cricket Club Appoints Ed Wilson as Head of Women’s and Girls’ Cricket

Worcestershire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Ed Wilson as the new Head of Women’s and Girls’ Cricket.

Ed joins the Club from Oxfordshire Cricket, where he has served with distinction as Cricket Development Manager.

His leadership has been instrumental in promoting and expanding women’s and girls’ cricket across the county. In his new role at Worcestershire, Ed will lead coaching for the women’s team, oversee the girls’ pathway, and serve as the lead for the girls’ Emerging Player Pathway (EPP).

Looking ahead to his new role, Ed said: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Worcestershire County Cricket Club at such a pivotal time for women’s and girls’ cricket.

“Oxfordshire played against Worcestershire last year and the Club clearly have some good people and players.

“Worcestershire has already shown a real commitment to developing the women’s game, and I look forward to building on that momentum.

“My focus will be on strengthening the pathway, growing participation, and ensuring that Worcestershire continues to be a place where female cricketers can thrive and achieve their full potential.

“There’s a fantastic opportunity to take the women’s and girls’ programme to the next level, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Ashley Giles, CEO of Worcestershire County Cricket Club, expressed his enthusiasm about Ed’s appointment: “We are thrilled to welcome Ed Wilson to Worcestershire as our new Head of Women’s and Girls’ Cricket.

“Ed’s proven track record in developing and promoting the women’s and girls’ game aligns perfectly with our commitment to fostering talent and expanding opportunities within the sport.

“We look forward to the positive impact he will undoubtedly bring to the Club.”

Ed Wilson will officially commence his role with Worcestershire towards the end of March.
