Worcestershire’s three-day warm-up fixture against Glamorgan concluded in a draw on Tuesday, with both sides taking plenty of positives from a competitive and hard-fought encounter at Sophia Gardens.
After dominating much of Day One and Day Two thanks to a composed first-innings 75 (retired) from Jake Libby, a lively 57 not out from Matthew Waite, and a searing new-ball burst by Ben Allison (4-27), Worcestershire used the final day to give further match time to bowlers and fringe players.
In Glamorgan’s second innings, Kiran Carlson retired on a well-compiled 53 from 86 balls, while Chris Cooke also retired unbeaten on 37, helping the hosts to reach 203 for 7 from 56 overs before stumps were drawn. Fateh Singh (2-29)and Brett D’Oliveira (2-26) were the pick of the bowlers, with Adam Finch, Ethan Brookes, and Waite each claiming a wicket.
Earlier in the day, Worcestershire had declared their second innings on 157 for 8, with Gareth Roderick (39 retired) anchoring once more, and Adam Hose (32) finding fluency. The match, played in excellent spirit, ended as a draw with all 28 squad players rotated across the three days.
With several key batters finding form and the bowling group operating with sharpness and discipline, Head Coach Alan Richardson will be pleased with the pre-season tune-up ahead of next week’s competitive return.
