WOMEN’S RAPIDS UNDER-18S TOP ECB GROUP BEFORE QUARTER-FINAL LOSS

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids topped their group in the ECB Girls Under-18 County One-Day Cup competition before losing to North East Warriors in the National Quarter-Finals at the Seat Unique Riverside.

The Rapids won five of their six group matches, and their only setback came against Warwickshire at Bromsgrove when they were already assured of finishing in pole position.

It was an excellent effort, and the Rapids finished 31 points ahead of Warwickshire.

In the quarter-final, the Rapids were restricted to 127-6 in 40 overs, with Phoebe Chew top-scoring with 44.

Ellie Anderson, who had scored 70 not out in the final group game against Warwickshire, also chipped in with 25, but the Rapids found it challenging to score above three runs an over.

When the Warriors batted, Charlotte Roberts (6-1-29-1) made an early breakthrough, but the home side suffered no more setbacks in reaching 131-1 in 24.1 overs.
