USAMA MIR INCLUDED IN SECONDS SIDE FOR T20 ENCOUNTER AT KIDDERMINSTER

Usama Mir will make his first appearance for Worcestershire when he plays in Game Two of a Seconds T20 double header against Northamptonshire at Kidderminster on Monday (May 22).

The Pakistan leg spinner has been signed to play in the opening three matches of the Vitality Blast.

He will be a replacement for New Zealander Mitchell Santner, who will be on IPL duty with Chennai Super Kings after their qualification for the latter stages.

Worcestershire will use the two games to give their T20 players some valuable match practice ahead of the Blast opener against Northamptonshire Steelbacks at the County Ground, Northampton on Wednesday.

Adam Hose, the third-highest scorer in the Blast last summer with 559 runs, is to play in Game Two.

Kashif Ali (thumb), Dillon Pennington (hamstring) and Pat Gibbon (groin) are all included after recent injuries.

Club captain Brett D’Oliveira is to captain the Rapids in the Blast this summer, and he will lead the side in Game One, with new ball vice-captain, Jack Haynes, skippering the team in Game Two.

The first match will get underway at 11am and the second at 3pm. Entry to Kidderminster is free.
