U16 - U18 County Age Groups

Purpose

To provide a high-performance environment that supports advanced skill development, competitive excellence, and personal growth, preparing players for senior County squads (Tier 2 and 3), Emerging Player Programme (EPP), and Tier 1 Academies.

    • Master advanced techniques across all disciplines

Tactical Awareness

    • Prepare players for high-level match play.
    • Develop consistency, adaptability, and game impact

Physical Development

    • Implement strength and conditioning exercises.
    • Focus on athleticism, recovery, and injury prevention

Mental Resilience

    • Build resilience, focus, and emotional intelligence

Pathway Progression

    • Support transition into EPP, Tier 2 Women’s Rapids, and Tier 1 Academies
    • Provide competitive match experience and exposure

Programme Structure

  • Skill Focus Areas

    Batting

    All the previous batting skills

    Understand their batting role/s within the team

    Confidently execute shot preferences vs seam and spin – rotating strike and finding boundaries

    Build confidence in changing positions/guards at the crease to counteract various bowler types and conditions

     

    Bowling

    All the previous bowling skills

    Executive bowling plans

    Confidently execute variations under pressure situations

    Understand their bowling role/s within the ream

     

    Fielding

    All the previous fielding skills

    Confident in diving and rolling

    Develop 2-3 individual specialist individual fielding positions

     

    Wicket Keeping

    All the previous wicket keeping skills

    Confidently support with angles of field placements

    Communicate with captain/bowlers on pitch conditions, batters strengths and weaknesses

    Confidently stand up to slow seamers and spinners

    Develop standing up to slightly quicker bowlers as a tactic to keep batters in their crease

     

    Game Sense

    All the previous game sense skills

    Confidently analyse the game situation, and communicate plans based on the analysis

    Have a game plan for both applying and absorbing pressure

  • Physical Literacy

    Agility, balance, coordination, speed

    Age-appropriate fitness games and challenges

    Competitive (T20 and 35/40 Over) fixtures vs other counties

    Scenario-based training and match simulations

  • Training Schedule

    Weekly high-performance sessions (November–April)
