The weather dashed Worcestershire Women’s Rapids hopes of building on their fine start to the season as the two ECB T20 matches with Staffordshire at Bromsgrove CC were abandoned.
Play got underway on time in the first game, and the Rapids took an early grip on proceedings after captain Chloe Hill opted to field first after winning the toss.
Staffordshire were reduced to 17-3 and then 32-4 at one stage.
Openers Lydia Perry (2) and Helen Hughes (9) were both run out in the first and second overs from Ellie Anderson.
In between those two dismissals, Emily Arlott trapped Charlotte Whyte (3) lbw and then bowled Stephanie Butler (15).
Poppy Davies (20 not out) and Lauren Rowles (19 not out) added an unbroken 41 before rain ended proceedings at 73-4 from 12 overs.
Arlott ended with figures of 3-0-15-2, Anderson 3-0-23-0, Charis Pavely 2-0-8-0, Flora Birtwistle 3-0-12-0 and Clare Boycott 1-0-13-0.
The Rapids, who defeated Berkshire in both of their opening two matches, had to be content with one point.
It was the same outcome for the second scheduled game, abandoned without a bowled ball.
*The first day of Worcestershire Seconds encounter with Glamorgan Seconds in the Second Eleven Championship at Barnt Green also suffered the same fate.
It started to rain at 10.15am and, after taking an early lunch at 12.30pm, umpires Jeremy Lloyds and Anthony Harris called off play for the day at 1.10pm.
*Worcestershire Academy’s 50 over meeting with Wales at Abergavenny was also abandoned without a ball being bowled.
