THIRD BOOK ON HISTORY OF WORCESTERSHIRE CCC NOW AVAILABLE

The third book by Andrew Thomas detailing the history of Worcestershire County Cricket Club – ‘Pears 160, WCCC 2020-2024 – has been published and is now available to purchase.

It is the third book in the series following ‘Pears 150, the life and times of Worcestershire County Cricket Club 1865-2014’ and ‘Pears 155, WCCC 2015-2019.’

‘Pears 160’ will be on sale in the WCCC shop at Visit Worcestershire New Road next summer but may be purchased now in time for Christmas for £8, plus postage, by contacting the author at pears80wyverns@gmail.com

The 112 pages of ‘Pears 160’ contains annual updates of matches played, pitches used, background events, plus many new features about Worcestershire CCC.

Included are seven pages of updated stats about flooding at New Road up until April 2024.

‘Pears 160’ also includes items on WCCC’s best and worst seasons since 1865, positions in all competitions since 1963, the updated use of pitches on the New Road square 2015-2023 and ECB pitch marks 1992-2023.

There are updated County Championship pen pics for players numbered 490-548, T20 matches 2004-2024 and player numbers 1-120, List A numbers 1-236, social media surveys 2021-2024 and overseas players 1899-2024.

Worcestershire’s first class batting and bowling records are analysed and charts showing the reduced bowling workload since 1946.

There are detailed features about Fred Root, Lord Ian Botham, Mary Duggan, Andrew Hall in 2003, Jack Shantry in 2014, WCCC Gallantry Medals and POW’s, the amazing Bomford Autographs collection and a list of more than 50 WCCC books.
