Worcestershire Academy gained a seven wicket win over Worcestershire Under 17s at the Royal Grammar School, Worcester today.
An unbeaten 133 off 138 balls from Ben Tegg enabled the Academy to reach a target in a maximum of 60 overs with 17.3 overs to spare.
The match was a two-day, two innings affair played over two separate Sundays.
On the first Sunday, the Academy won the toss and put the Under 17s into bat and they scored 242-5 off 60 overs.
Jake Cartwright top-scored with 106 off 161 balls and he was well supported by Freddie Wynn with 62.
The Academy scored 229-2 off 45 overs in reply with Zen Malik (68 not out), Josh Dell (60 not out) Tegg (53) registering half centuries.
Today, on the second Sunday, the Under 17s – leading by 13 runs – scored 193-5 off 45 overs.
Ollie Westbury scored 97 off 111 balls and Malik took 3-21 off six overs.
That left the Academy requiring 207 to win off 60 overs and Tegg's knock was largely responsible for them reaching their target in 42.3 overs.
