Skipper George Rhodes' excellent century was in vain as Worcestershire Seconds went down by 121 runs to their Gloucestershire counterparts on the final day of a three-day friendly match at Cheltenham College.
Rhodes made 125 off 197 balls with one six and 12 fours before joining up with the senior side at Hove for the Specsavers County Championship clash with Sussex.
But Worcestershire were bowled out for 282 in 73.3 overs after being a target of 404 in 88 overs by the home side.
Rhodes enjoyed an excellent all-round day, picking up a further three wickets in the morning session to finish with 4-55 as Gloucestershire advanced from their overnight 203-1 before declaring on 239-5.
Ollie Westbury followed up his first innings hundred by making 44 of an opening stand of 68 with Rhodes and then Alexei Kervezee (1) was dismissed to the last ball before lunch for the second time in the game.
Alex Hepburn hit nine fours in his 44 off 54 balls and helped Rhodes add a further 80 for the third wicket.
But, after reaching 151-2, Worcestershire lost wickets at regular intervals, including Ross Whiteley (8) who also travelled to Hove to be part of the squad.
Rhodes was eventually eighth out at 268 – one of five victims of off spinner George Drissell who finished with 5-54 in 15.3 overs. —–
