Worcestershire have included triallists Tommy Sturgess and Louis Shaw in their squad for tomorrow’s Second Eleven Trophy clash with MCC Young Cricketers at Merchant Taylor’s School.
Coach Alex Gidman’s side will be bidding for a third successive win in the competition.
Sturgess, aged 20, is a right arm fast medium bowler from Cornwall who played for Surrey Seconds last season.
Bristol born Shaw, 19, is an off spinner who has played for Somerset Seconds and made his England Under-19s debut last winter against India in Mumbai.
Worcestershire are also taking another look at ex Warwickshire paceman Grant Thornton who played in the Championship match against his former team-mates at Portland Road last month.
Batsman Ryan Tongue – brother of Josh – is part of the 12 strong squad.
He plays for Barnards Green and was voted the Birmingham League Player Of The Year for 2017 after a prolific season.
Worcestershire currently head the table after defeating Warwickshire and Derbyshire in their opening two games.
Ollie Westbury will again captain the side with Joe Dodd keeping wicket.
