george rhodes has lifted more silverware after helping onslow cc to win the ewen chatfield trophy grand final with a 63 run victory over johnsonville cc.
rhodes was a regular member of the worcestershire ccc side during the second half of last season which won the specsavers county championship division two title.
now he has enjoyed further success after playing for the past four months in new zealand.
rhodes scored 16 off 18 balls batting at number four and bowled two overs for 13 runs in the final – but he has played a major role with bat and latterly with the ball in onslow’s success in the 50 over competition.
the all-rounder is currently onslow’s leading run-getter with 429 at an average of 39.00 and has also chipped in with 14 wickets at just 20.36.
he will remain with onslow for another month before reporting back to New Road on march 1 to prepare for the new campaign.
in the final rhodes struck two boundaries in his 18 ball knock and added 40 for the third wicket with opener and century-maker sean o’connor (107).
calvin harrison (64) and sam keegan (36 off 18 balls) pushed onslow to a final total of 303-8 and they then bowled out johnsonville for 240 in 46 overs.
rhodes and onslow won nine of their 11 group matches and will now switch their attention to the two-day and t20 competitions.
