RAPIDS SIGNING TURNER AMONGST THE RUNS FOR SCORCHERS

Ashton Turner hit a rapid 36 to help Perth Scorchers clock up their first win of the 2019-2020 Big Bash League against visiting Melbourne Renegades.

Worcestershire Rapids 2020 Vitality Blast signing came to the wicket at 84-2 after the Scorchers had been put into bat and ensured the momentum was maintained.

Turner showed his power as he struck Jack Wildermuth for a straight six in addition to three fours in his 26 ball knock.

He figured in useful stands of 38 with Cameron Bancroft (51) and 34 with skipper Mitchell Marsh (56 not out from 22 balls).

Turner was eventually dismissed by Kane Richardson (4-22), caught at short third man by Harry Gurney off a thick outside edge after backing away to attempt a cut.

The Scorchers went onto make 196-7 from their 20 overs.

Turner then made his mark in the field in holding onto a catch at extra cover to dismiss the big-hitting Aaron Finch (28) off Chris Jordan.

Despite a half century from the other Marsh brother, Shaun, and an unbeaten 67 from Beau Webster, the Renegades closed on 185-6.
