RAPIDS SIGNING BRACEWELL WINS MAJOR BLACK CAPS AWARD

Worcestershire 2023 Vitality Blast signing, Michael Bracewell,  has been voted New Zealand men’s ODI Player of the Year.

Bracewell received his award at New Zealand’s Cricket Awards evening after a successful 12 months, particularly in white ball cricket.

In the 50-over format, Bracewell scored 510 runs at an average of 42.50 for the Black Caps, including two memorable centuries.

He smashed 127 not out off 82 balls against Ireland and then 140 from 78 deliveries versus India.

It was the kind of superb hitting that Rapids supporters will be hoping Bracewell can replicate in the Blast this summer.

In addition, Bracewell picked up 14 ODI wickets with his off-spin at an economy rate of 5.32 runs per over.

Daryl Mitchell was voted New Zealand’s overall men’s Player Of The Year, with keeper Tom Blundell (Test) and Glenn Phillips (T20) the other major men’s award winners.
