Worcestershire Rapids were left frustrated by the weather as the NatWest T20 Blast clash with visiting Lancashire Lightning was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
The Rapids had been looking to try and chalk up their first T20 Blast win of the campaign after losing their opening three matches against Birmingham Bears, Leicestershire Foxes and Derbyshire Falcons – all at New Road.
But, in the 10th anniversary week of the great flood which engulfed the ground during the 2007 season and ruled out anymore games at their headquarters that summer, torrential afternoon rain ruled out hopes of any play.
Rapids Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes said: "Really frustrating first of all for the club, the supporters and both sets of players.
"We enjoy playing the T20 Blast and sadly what would have probably been a full house hasn't seen any cricket.
"But that is typical of the English weather and sometimes this happens and we can have a little spell of weather which can really affect the T20 Blast when it is in a block."
The Rapids will now embark on a trio of away games in the next six days starting against Yorkshire Vikings at Headingley on Sunday.
They will then visit Notts Outlaws on Wednesday and Northamptonshire Steelbacks the following day.
Rain started falling in mid afternoon and gradually increased much to the disappointment of what was expected to be a near sell-out crowd.
But there was never any chance of the two teams taking the field and the umpires were left with little choice but to formally call the game off at 6.45pm.
