RAPIDS AIMING TO END BLAST CAMPAIGN ON HIGH NOTE IN HOME DOUBLE HEADER

Worcestershire Rapids will wind up their 2022 Vitality Blast campaign with two matches in the space of three days against Lancashire Lightning and Notts Outlaws.

Club Captain, Brett D’Oliveira, says the players will be determined to try and end a challenging T20 campaign on a high note.

A 15 player squad has been announced for Friday’s meeting with Lancashire who are currently lying in second spot (5.30pm start).

It comprises the 11 players who faced Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston last Friday plus Jake Libby, Charlie Morris, Dillon Pennington and Josh Baker.

D’Oliveira, the Rapids leading run-scorer in the Blast with 277 runs at a strike rate of 152.19, said: “The lads will have that pride to try and finish on a high note.

“I will be asking those guys to stand up, and myself, and it’s about going out there, putting on the shirt and trying to put in a performance.

“It is a real challenge mentally and technically as well, to go from one competition to another, for batters and bowlers but everyone is in the same boat.

“We have just got to think positively, stick to our game plan and hopefully win a few games.”

D’Oliveira stressed the determination of the squad to give the supporters something to cheer during the finale to the competition.

He said: “Everytime the players go out there, they are wanting to put on a show for the fans and trying to get a win.

“A massive thank you to the supporters, the guys who follow us around the country and are at New Road.

“It doesn’t go un-noticed and we really appreciated the support.”

Pat Brown is the Rapids leading wicket-taker with 12 and is in the top four of the Rapids all-time top wicket-takers with 69.

Only Daryl Mitchell (101), Jack Shantry (92) and Captain Moeen Ali (80) have more scalps for Worcestershire.
