Pat Brown is celebrating his first T20I wicket after helping England to a seven wicket win in the opening meeting with New Zealand in Christchurch in the early hours of today.
The Worcestershire paceman picked up the prized scalp of Black Caps batsman Ross Taylor and finished with 1-33 from his four overs.
Brown was entrusted with the final over of the innings on his debut by England captain Eoin Morgan – a role he has experienced many times for the Rapids – and responded in excellent fashion.
He conceded just six runs and, with his third delivery of the over, accounted for Taylor who top-scored with 44 off 35 balls.
Taylor, who in contrast to Brown was playing his 91st T20I, was undone by a cutter and was well caught at cow corner by Jonny Bairstow stooping forward.
Brown bowled his stint in three separate spells.
He came into the attack at 48-2 off seven overs and his first over went for only five runs before he was hit for six over mid wicket by Colin de Grandhomme in his next – the 10th.
Brown returned for the 16th and Daryl Mitchell collected a six over long off and then ended his spell with the excellent 20th over.
He did not concede a single four in his four overs as New Zealand totalled 153-5.
Bairstow (35 off 28 balls) gave England a sound start and then James Vince (59 off 38 balls) and Morgan (34 not out off 21 balls) helped them to victory with nine balls to spare.
