Worcestershire Rapids Women are delighted to announce the loan signing of promising pace bowler Amy Wheeler from Tier One outfit, The Blaze.
Wheeler, a highly rated young talent will be dual-registered with Worcestershire and is in line to make her Rapids debut this Sunday in the Metro Bank One Day Cup clash against Leicestershire, taking place at Uppingham School.
While she continues her training and remains eligible for selection with The Blaze, Amy’s loan spell offers an increase of exposure to competitive cricket that will only help her development.
Head Women’s Coach Ed Willson said, “Amy is an incredibly exciting all-round cricketer who will significantly strengthen our squad.”
“We’re building momentum following last week’s victory over Yorkshire, and bringing in players of Amy’s potential is really exciting for all of us. We’re all looking forward to seeing her in action for the Rapids.”
James Cutt, Director of Cricket at The Blaze, added, “Amy’s had a really impressive winter on the first-team staff, and this increased exposure to competitive cricket will only help accelerate her development.”
“We hope Amy is able to make a similarly positive impression over at Visit Worcestershire New Road, while remaining part of our senior setup.”
