SECOND XI GEAR UP FOR THREE-DAY FRIENDLY AGAINST SACA AT HALESOWEN

Published 21/04/2025

Worcestershire’s Second XI are set for an exciting three-day fixture as they take on the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA) in a friendly match starting Tuesday 22 April at Halesowen Cricket Club.

The game offers a valuable opportunity for players to gain red-ball match practice and stake their claim for First XI contention in the weeks ahead. A strong squad has been named, with a mix of emerging talent and experienced performers ready to test themselves against high-quality opposition.

Ed Pollock will captain the side, bringing both experience and leadership to the top order. He’s joined by in-form batters Rehan Edavalath and Henry Cullen, while Daniel Lategan and the hard-hitting Ismail Mohammed add further depth to a dynamic middle order.

Assistant Coach and Second XI Lead Richard Jones is looking forward to what promises to be a competitive and beneficial few days.

“These games are ideal for development and testing players in different conditions,” Jones said. “The lads have been working hard in training, and it’s great to see a mix of senior players, new signings and exciting young talent in this group.

“SACA will be strong, they always bring intensity and a high level of skill, but that’s exactly what we want. It’s a good chance for individuals to show they can put together match-winning performances and contribute to the team environment.”

The fixture also marks the first appearance in Worcestershire colours for Fateh Singh since joining the club permanently, as he looks to impress and build rhythm early in the campaign.

Play is scheduled to begin at 11:00am each day at Seth Somers Park, with admission free for supporters wanting to catch a glimpse of the next generation of Worcestershire talent in action.
