Worcestershire Women’s Rapids duo Bryony Gillgrass and Sophie Beech have today been named as part of a 16-strong player group for a tri-series in Australia.
The Rapids duo will travel down-under for the triangular series against Australia and Sri Lanka, where the side will play one 50-over game and two T20s against both the hosts and Sri Lanka.
After an impressive season in Rapids colours throughout 2025, the girls were rewarded earlier this year with a place with the England U19’s side on the touring party of India, where both players enjoyed a beneficial time away with the Three Lions.
Bryony, built her reputation as one of the brightest all-rounders in the country last summer, starring with both bat and ball on numerous occasions for the Rapids, with teammate Sophie’s 250-run season in 2025 seeing her catch the eye of the England selectors.
Ed Wilson, Worcestershire Rapids Women’s Head Coach, said the girls’ inclusion in the squad was testament to their hard work and development over the last 12-months.
“We are absolutely delighted for both Sophie and Bryony, with both of the girls fully deserving of their opportunity to go away and represent the national side.
“For two young cricketers, their commitment to bettering their game has been so impressive and will stand them in good stead ahead of their time away, where they will have an invaluable opportunity to enhance their game, surrounded by some of the best players in the country at their age.
“We all look forward to seeing how they progress, and will be excited to welcome them back ahead of another big summer here with Worcestershire.”
