With the new year in full swing and preparations for the new season underway at Visit Worcestershire New Road, our stars plying their trade overseas have been busy also!
From new arrivals in Australia to some brilliance in Bangladesh, our lads have been showing off their skills over the last few weeks…
Ben Gibbon – Sturt CC (Australia)
Ben recently returned to action after the Christmas break for Sturt CC, producing an impressive individual performance despite his team coming out on the wrong side of the result in their most recent West End Men’s 1st Grade fixture.
In a two-day match, Ben took two first innings wickets in an exceptional spell that saw him record figures of 2-9 from a nine over spell that included five maidens, as Sturt reduced Adelaide to 30-6.
Although unable to prevent his side from falling to defeat, Ben followed up with two more wickets in the second innings as Sturt fell to an agonising one-wicket defeat.
Henry Cullen – Woodville CC (Australia)
After an impressive start to the season, Henry continued his positive form in Woodville’s most recent match against West Torrens.
Despite ending up on the losing side, Henry made more positive strides in the middle order, showing great patience for his 27 off 65 balls, in a mature innings that included three boundaries.
After suffering a 74-run defeat, Henry will be back in action this weekend as Woodville CC take on Tea Tree Gully CC.
Ethan Brookes – Sylhet Titans (Bangladesh)
Ethan has continued to enjoy his time in the Bangladesh Premier League, where he has featured heavily for the Titans.
A six-wicket win against Noakhali Express continued the side’s positive form, before the Titans came unstuck against Chattogram Royals, where Ethan’s breezy 20 off 10 balls batting at number seven wasn’t enough to prevent his side falling to a 14-run loss.
Ethan scored nine not-out and took a catch (off the bowling of Moeen Ali), in the Titans’ 20-run victory over Dhaka Capitals, before featuring again in a six-wicket win over Rangpur Riders and the side’s final group stage clash with Rajshahi Warriors.
The Titans are now through to the eliminator match, against Rangpur Riders.
Dan Lategan – MI Cape Town (SA20)
Dan has completed his time with his franchise in South Africa, in a frustrating tournament that saw his side finish bottom of the group table.
Despite not making an appearance during the competition Dan has continued his development and will return to Worcestershire in due course to link-up with the squad for pre-season.
Gareth Roderick – Green Point CC (South Africa)
Green Point CC picked up an important win in their first game of 2026 as they eased past Cape Town CC by eight-wickets, in a run-chase of 114 where Gareth wasn’t required to bat.
Last weekend Gareth lined up for Green Point against high-flyers Rondebosch CC in the Western Province Club 50-Over Premier League, with the batter scoring 10 in his side’s 114-run defeat.
Ben Allison and Matthew Waite – Altona North CC (Australia)
In a two-fold update, the first news to share is to confirm that all-rounder Matthew Waite has joined teammate Ben Allison, at Melbourne based-side Altona North CC.
Ben and Matthew both played their first game for the club last weekend, as Altona North CC narrowly lost out to St Albans CC in a two-day contest in the Kookaburra Sports Senior Division.
Batting at number three, Matthew made a fluent first innings 20, with all of his runs coming in boundaries, facing just 15 deliveries to contribute to his team’s first innings total of 109-9.
Ben did not bowl during his side’s first innings in the field, before Matthew returned to the crease in Altona North’s second innings where he made a positive start on his way to 13, before being caught.
Ben made his mark in a tense finale during the final innings of the game, returning superb figures of 11-3-28-3, but was unable to prevent his side falling to an agonising one-wicket defeat.
