Worcestershire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that former player Alexei Kervezee, will be re-joining the Club as Lead 2nd XI Coach and Assistant Coach.
The former Worcestershire player will be joining the Club this winter and will add valuable experience to the coaching quality across both senior squads.
Having represented Worcestershire across all formats during his nine year stay at New Road, Kervezee also went on to play international cricket for the Netherlands during a very successful playing career.
The batter joined the club in 2008, going on to make 207 appearances across all-formats and enjoying three memorable promotions in the County Championship.
Kervezee notched a career-best first-class score of 155 in Worcestershire colours back in July 2010 during a County Championship fixture against Derbyshire, when the batter enjoyed his most prolific summer on record for the Pears.
Kervezee, expressed his delight at rejoining the Club in a coaching capacity.
“It feels amazing, it’s like I’ve come home after a period of time away. There are obviously a few things that have changed over time, but a lot of the Club is as I remember it.
”I have been involved in coaching with the Worcestershire pathway and academy as well as doing some second team coaching with Richard Jones, so I am really keen to get back in the fold with the rest of the coaching group.
“My love of Worcestershire is strong and I have a desire to work with a very good coaching staff and immensely talented group of players.”
Worcestershire Men’s Head Coach, Alan Richardson, added:
“We are delighted to welcome Alexei back to the club, his appointment brings some valuable experience to our coaching staff.
“He has a great connection with the club and knows the place well, so we are all looking forward to having him on board and getting started.”
