Worcestershire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce Henry Cullen has signed a new two-year deal with the club.
The 22-year-old Wicketkeeper, a product of the Worcestershire Academy system, initially caught the eye with some exceptional performances for the U18s, transitioning into a key figure for the 2nd XI across the last two seasons, before debuting in the Vitality T20 Blast last season.
Cullen is enjoying another superb campaign to date, scoring 143 in red-ball cricket and 344 runs on the T20 stage.
Speaking on his renewal, Cullen, said the decision to continue his journey at Visit Worcestershire New Road was a straightforward one.
“I love playing my cricket here at Worcestershire, I feel like I am very much still at the start of my journey and I am really happy I can continue to grow here.
“I have been part of this club for a while now, and I want to kick-on and show my skills at the highest level. I know with the coaches and lads around me, I have the best environment to do that.
“Hopefully I can keep scoring runs and helping the team out wherever I am playing, and when the time comes, take my opportunity to help this side bring back some silverware.”
Cullen holds the highest score recorded by a Worcestershire batter in the 2nd XI Championship, with a memorable 234 v Northants at Dunstable in 2024.
Henry, in 2021, shared the Academy Player of the Year award with Ben Parker and in 2022, Henry was named as the Birmingham District League Young Player of the Year.
Head Coach Alan Richardson said the future is very bright for the young keeper-batter.
“You get certain players each year that come through and catch your eye, Henry certainly falls into that category.
“He has an exceptional cricketing IQ for a young lad, and his ceiling for potential is so high, so naturally we are thrilled he will be continuing his journey here at Worcestershire.”
