Worcestershire County Cricket Club will honour Josh Baker with a unique “Blue for Bakes” day in the final Metro Bank One Day Cup home fixture against Surrey, later this month.
On Tuesday, 26th August, the club will come together to commemorate and celebrate Josh himself, as well as raise funds for the JB33 foundation.
After Josh’s tragic passing in 2024, parents Paul and Lisa Baker launched the JB33 Foundation in his memory to support local cricket clubs across the region, including helping them with important safety equipment such as life-saving defibrillators.
All spectators are encouraged to wear blue in keeping with the day’s theme, with club staff and players alike partaking in the initiative.
The ground will be decorated and surrounded in a blue colour scheme, all to help raise the profile of the day.
Players from the Rapids’ side on the day will be donning a commemorative blue cap during the match.
The limited-edition cap will also be available for supporters to buy in the club shop throughout the day’s play, as a memento of the occasion and help to raise extra funds for the foundation.
Worcestershire Head Coach, Alan Richardson, says the initiative is the perfect way for the club to come together and ensure Josh’s legacy lives on.
“Blue for Bakes is a wonderful initiative that gives everyone amongst the players, supporters and staff an opportunity to honour Bakes at a place he made some very happy memories.
“It is something very close to all our hearts and I am sure that our supporters will come together to make it a very special day, raising awareness for the JB33 Foundation and supporting the work that the charity carries out.”
