Worcestershire Rapids 2nd XI won their second game in as many days as they successfully defended 187, beating Glamorgan 2nd XI by seven runs at Sophia Gardens.

After losing the toss and being inserted, the Rapids once again had Skipper Jake Libby to thank, as his quick fire 70 off 43, powered his side to 187-5 from their 20 overs.

In an innings that included seven-fours and two-sixes, Libby anchored his side’s batting performance, after the early loss of Isaac Mohammed (12).

Rob Jones, joined Libby, and the pair added exactly 100 for the second wicket, before Libby was eventually out, stumped.

Tom Hinley later added a brutal 32 off just 16 balls, to propel his side towards a big total, while Jones, remained unbeaten at the end on 55, made off of just 40 deliveries.

Reaching 187-5 at the halfway mark, there was still work to do against a dangerous Glamorgan outfit.

Ben Gibbon (3-32), starred with the ball for the visitors, removing both openers early on.

A defiant partnership of 68 between Root (71) and Hurle (27), had the Rapids wondering for a while, but when Ben Allison 2-26) removed both of the set batters, Worcestershire were always the favourites heading towards the death overs.

Holding on to win by seven-runs, the Rapids moved up to second in the T20 Central Group, with their next fixture coming up on Monday, against Lancashire.
