NEW ROAD TO HOST ENGLAND WOMEN V SOUTH AFRICA THIS SUMMER

England will take on South Africa in the second match of the Vitality IT20 Series at New Road on Saturday, July 23.

The IT20 could offer Worcestershire supporters another opportunity to see Worcestershire Women’s Rapids and Central Sparks spinner Sarah Glenn in action on her home ground.

Worcestershire members, and non-members who register their interest now, will be able to purchase tickets in a Priority Window from March 1 to 15, and they cost just £10 for adults and £1 for juniors.

Following the Priority Window, tickets will go on general sale for the fixture, which is also being televised live by SkySports.

New Road has been selected to regularly stage England Women’s internationals in recent seasons.

Last summer, New Road hosted 50 over matches against Indian and New Zealand Women.

Managing Director of Women’s Cricket, Clare Connor, said: “We are thrilled to be able to announce a compelling summer of international women’s cricket against two of the best teams in the world, in what is a bumper year for the women’s game.

“With the second edition of The Hundred and the historic opportunity to participate in the Commonwealth Games on home soil, we’re looking forward to seeing our players thrive on the biggest stages.

“Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, we keep seeing growth in our female participation numbers and I’m optimistic that a summer as action-packed as this, with more days broadcast than ever before, will continue to inspire more women and girls to play and watch the game.”

The 2022 IT20 is the latest addition to the top-quality women’s cricket on offer to Worcestershire members and supporters at New Road during the forthcoming season.

Central Sparks are in action in a total of four matches at New Road in the Charlotte Edwards Cup (T20) and Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy (50 over).

Four Rapids players in captain Chloe Hill, Glenn, Emily Arlott and Clare Boycott are all part of the Sparks squad.

Two other Central Sparks players Ami Campbell and Milly Home have also joined the Rapids for the 2022 season.

New Road will host the Central Sparks game in the Charlotte Edwards Cup with Western Storm on Saturday, June 4.

In the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, Sparks will entertain Northern Diamonds visit on Saturday, July 16, Lightning on Friday, September 9 and Sunrisers on Saturday, September 17.
