MOEEN TO LEAD ENGLAND FOR REMAINDER OF T20I SERIES IN WEST INDIES

Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Blast captain, Moeen Ali, is to lead England in the final two matches of their T20I Series against the West Indies in Barbados as they look to overturn a 2-1 deficit.

Moeen replaced the injured Eoin Morgan at the helm for the third match of the series, with England fielding a much-changed side and handing debuts to Harry Brook, George Garton and Phil Salt.

He will now take charge of back-to-back matches at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, this weekend.

The 34-year-old will aim to repeat the form he showed in the second game, scoring 31 and taking 3-24 to help England level the series.

Moeen had previously captained England in a T20I against Australia at the Ageas Bowl in September 2020.

He has vast T20 captaincy experience to call upon, including leading the Rapids to the Blast title in 2018 and finishing runners-up in 2019.

Morgan pulled out of Wednesday’s encounter after feeling pain in his right quad during the warm-up.

He has sustained a low-grade quadriceps injury which rules out of the climax to the series.
