Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen Ali will join up with a 14-man England squad for a training camp in Spain ahead of the forthcoming Ashes series.
Moeen has been released from international duty to play for Worcestershire during the past three weeks to prepare for the series with Australia which gets underway on July 8.
He played in the LV = County Championship clash with Warwickshire at New Road and three NatWest T20 Blast matches.
Moeen is also available for the T20 Blast double header with Lancashire Lightning tonight and Derbyshire Falcons tomorrow plus the LV = CC clash with Middlesex at Uxbridge beginning on Sunday.
But his training camp call-up – it gets underway on June 27 – means he will be unable to play in the LV = CC game with Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge beginning on July 29.
England were keen for Moeen to hone his skills in red ball cricket which meant he was omitted from the squad for the thrilling five ODIs with New Zealand which reach a climax at Emirates ICG Durham tomorrow.
Andrew Strauss, Director of England cricket, said: “With Trevor Bayliss arriving in the country next Thursday, Trevor, Alastair (Cook) and I felt it important that both players and management likely to be involved in the early stages of the Investec Ashes have chance to meet him and fully understand his approach prior to meeting up for the start of the Test series.
“With that in mind, we have arranged a preparation camp in Spain. This will involve a combination of physical and fielding sessions and planning meetings in an informal environment in order to provide the best possible lead up to the first Test in Cardiff.
"The squad for the first Test will be announced within a few of days of returning from the camp."
