MIXED FORTUNES FOR WORCESTERSHIRE ACADEMY IN RAIN AFFECTED GAMES AT STOURPORT

Worcestershire Academy (Under-18s) experienced mixed fortunes in matches against Cricket Wales and Gloucestershire that were both rain affected at Stourport-on-Severn.

They went down by nine wickets to Cricket Wales in an ECB County T20 Cup encounter and then defeated Gloucestershire by 10 wickets in a friendly match.

In Game One the Academy opted to bat after winning the toss and totalled 71-8 off 17 overs with Myles Holland (24) and Ben Clarke (15 not out) their main contributors.

Cricket Wales were set a revised target of 55 in 13 overs and triumphed with 11 balls to spare.

Joe Stanley claimed the one wicket to fall during a tight spell of 3-1-8-1.

Game Two became a 15 over affair and Gloucestershire reached 114-6 after choosing to bat.

Clarke (3-0-19-2) removed both openers and there were also two wickets apiece for Joshua Leach (3-0-17-2) and Imaad Mahmood (3-0-28-2).

Worcestershire’s revised target became 74 in nine overs and Ismail Mohammed continued his recent impressive form as he and keeper Luke Powell saw their side home in 7.2 overs

Ismael followed his two half centuries for the Academy on Sunday by making 34 not out from 18 balls with one six and four fours.

Powell remained undefeated on 37 from 26 deliveries with five fours.
