MATTHEW WADE CAMEO ROLE CRUCIAL AS AUSTRALIA WIN T2OI

Worcestershire’s 2022 overseas player, Matthew Wade, played a crucial cameo innings to help Australia win the second T20I against Sri Lanka in Sydney after a Super Over finale.

Wade came to the wicket in the final over of Australia’s innings and provided some much needed momentum for his side in hitting an unbeaten 13 off just 14 balls.

The wicket-keeper batsman collected a boundary off his first delivery from Nuwan Thushara in front of square.

After managing two runs off the next ball, Wade lofted Thushara over wide long on for six before adding a single.

His late contribution lifted Australia to a competitive 164-6 and it proved to be crucial as Sri Lanka then replied with 164-8.

Wade, available in all formats for Worcestershire, picked up one catch to dismiss Chamika Karunaratne.

Sri Lanka were restricted to 5-1 in the Super Over, a total surpassed in just three deliveries by Australia.
