Skipper Moeen Ali and Daryl Mitchell finished with the highest strike rate and most economical performance with the ball respectively for Worcestershire Rapids in this year’s Vitality Blast.
Moeen smashed 365 runs from just seven innings at an average of 73.00 but just as importantly they came at a rate of 171.36 runs per 100 balls.
He also had the second best economy rate with the ball in his seven appearances in the T20 competition at 6.69.
Riki Wessels showed his quality in amassing 461 runs – the highest tally by a Rapids batsman and, alongside his big hitting, he played some highly responsible innings.
Mitchell was miserly with the ball and conceded just 6.41 runs per over – an economy rate which would have been even more frugal but for two overs in the quarter-final at Hove which nevertheless still yielded two vital wickets.
Pat Brown ended as the Rapids leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets – an achievement which led to his first England call-up for the five T20s in New Zealand in November.
