Mitchell Santner and Brett D’Oliveira demonstrated the effectiveness of slow bowling in the NatWest T20 Blast with their performances for Worcestershire Rapids.
The spin duo were the Rapids most successful bowlers in terms of wickets and also with their economy rates.
Overseas player Santner ended with 13 wickets and an economy rate of 6.64 runs per over from the Rapids 13 completed North Group matches.
He was also the Rapids best placed player in the Professional Cricketers’ Association Most Valuable Playes rankings for the T20 Blast in 20th position with 127 points at 9.74 per game.
D’Oliveira came close to matching the New Zealand all-rounder with 11 wickets and an economy rate of 6.82.
Daryl Mitchell continued the trend with his medium pacers only conceding 7.60 runs per over.
On the batting front Joe Clarke was the Rapids leading run-scorer and also had the highest strike rate.
Converted opener Clarke scored 381 runs at a strike rate of 183.17.
Ben Cox (297), Ross Whiteley (276), Santner (239), Mitchell (208) and D’Oliveira (201) were the other main run-getters.
