LEACH TOP OF THE CHARTS AT HALFWAY STAGE

Joe Leach is the leading wicket-taker in Division Two of the LV=Insurance County Championship at the half-way point of the 14-game programme.

The Worcestershire seamer has picked up 32 wickets from his seven appearances in the competition at an average of 25.96.

Leach has one more wicket than Glamorgan’s Timm van der Gugten (31) with the Durham duo of Matthew Potts and Ben Raine the only other two bowlers to reach the 30 mark in the division.

His tally includes two five-fors, 5-41 in the home win over Leicestershire and 6-78 in the thrilling draw with Sussex at the 1st Central County Ground.

It has lifted Leach’s first class wicket tally to 434 at an average of 26.16.

Worcestershire team-mate Jake Libby has climbed into the top 10 of leading run-scorers in Division Two after his 198 and 97 at Hove.

He is in seventh spot with 536 runs at an average of 59.55 and has played fewer games than any of those above him after missing two Championship matches with a back problem.

Glamorgan’s Kiran Carlson is currently Division Two’s highest run-scorer with 668 at 55.66.
