Worcestershire batter Kashif Ali will again be playing first class cricket in Pakistan this winter and aims to use the experience to help him with his ambition of becoming a genuine all-rounder.
Kashif, who finished as Worcestershire’s leading run-scorer in the 2024 Vitality County Championship, is to play for Ghani Glass in the President’s Trophy.
The competition has been expanded from seven to nine teams for the 2025 competition and will run from January 6 to March 7.
Kashif, who will play club cricket in Pakistan during the early part of the winter, is keen to develop his leg spin and ultimately play a more significant role as part of the Worcestershire attack.
He said: “Going to Pakistan last winter, it taught me so much as a cricketer and helped me to improve as a cricketer so much.
“It is a lot of game time and has been really beneficial. Coming back to Worcestershire I felt very comfortable and confident in my batting and also my bowling.
“I think I’m getting better as a bowler and I’m working really hard on it and I’m trying to be a proper all-rounder and that is one of my goals.
“That is what I will be doing again when I go to Pakistan. I will work on my bowling and my batting.”
Kashif added: “Playing for Ghani Glass in the President’s Trophy, that was a very good experience, a proper first-class competition with quality players, and the more you play, the better you get. Looking forward to playing for them again this winter.
“I want to play as much cricket as I possibly can just to improve as a cricketer. You never stop learning and me going out there is really beneficial.
“I love bowling. Every opportunity I get, I love it. I want to be a proper all-rounder, be able to have an impact on the game with bat and ball.
“Richo and Kaddy know, every opportunity I get I try and bowl as much as I can and try and get better.”
