Worcestershire Seconds return to Second Eleven Championship action today (Monday) after a three-week break with Coach Kadeer Ali looking to continue the progress made in the opening quartet of four-day fixtures.
They will take on Northamptonshire Seconds in a fixture switched from Milton Keynes to the County Ground, Northampton.
Worcestershire are currently lying 10th in the 18-team table with 50 points from four games, including a 23-point haul from victory over Somerset at Taunton Vale.
The batsmen have been amongst the runs with scores of 466-9 and 480-9 against Somerset and Lancashire, respectively, whilst there also have been some encouraging bowling performances.
Kadeer said: “The lads were playing well before the break, and we have been going in the right direction.
“Every game, from a batting point of view, has seen us be able to convert starts into big scores, and we have been bowling well as a unit.
“We have been improving as the games have gone on, and hopefully, we can keep the momentum going.
“It’s a shame the friendlies lined up in between the Championship games have been rained off, but the lads have been practicing hard.”
Worcestershire have named a 12 strong squad which includes new signing Gareth Roderick who played in the first four LV=Insurance Championship games of the season, and the pace trio of Charlie Morris, Adam Finch and Pat Brown.
Ross Whiteley will skipper the side with Alex Milton behind the stumps while the other keeper, Henry Cullen, will play as a batsman.
