Kadeer Ali determined to finish T20 campaign in style

Worcestershire Assistant Head Coach Kadeer Ali says the Rapids are determined to try and end the 2024 Vitality Blast campaign in style with “a performance for the home crowd” in Thursday’s encounter with Derbyshire Falcons at Visit Worcestershire New Road.

Kadeer has been encouraged by performances in recent games in the T20 format even if results haven’t always gone in favour of the Rapids.

They achieved back to back victories over Leicestershire Foxes and group leaders Birmingham Bears before narrowly losing a high-scoring meeting with Yorkshire Vikings after suffering yet more injury setbacks.

Kadeer said: “Over the last four or five games, we’ve actually played some really good cricket. We haven’t got over the line a few times but the guys have been playing well.

“Unfortunate that we lost in the last over against Yorkshire but the lads are playing really nicely even if the results haven’t gone our way.

“Guys are feeling good and confident and there are some really good individual performances in most of the games.

“We only really had that one real setback in the first game at Yorkshire, where we didn’t really perform, but otherwise I think we’ve competed in all of them.

“It’s just unfortunate this year that we didn’t get over the line a few times.

“But we are all looking forward to Thursday now, the lads are raring to go again and hopefully we can put in a performance for the home crowd who always give us great support.”
