GLENN HEADING BACK TO NEW ROAD IN CONFIDENT MOOD AFTER FOUR WICKET HAUL

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids spinner, Sarah Glenn, played a major role in Central Sparks 22 run win over Western Storm in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint (RHF) Trophy at the Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol.

Glenn will head back to New Road for the Sparks RHF Trophy meeting with Northern Diamonds on Saturday (July 16) in a confident mood after she returned the superb figures of 10-2-23-4.

She struck twice in her first over after coming into the attack with Western Storm 41-3 in reply to Central Sparks 206 all out in 50 overs.

Further wickets followed for Glenn in her fourth and fifth overs and she bowled her 10 overs on the trot and the score stood on 94-8 when she completed her spell.

Two of her victims were lbw, one was bowled while the other fell to a superb low catch by Sparks captain, Eve Jones, at slip.

Some late defiance lifted the Storm final total to 184-9 but they were unable to prevent the Sparks achieving their first win of 2022 in the competition, after losing the opening game by seven wickets to Southern Vipers at Edgbaston via the Duckworth-Lewis Method.

Jones had opted to bat and she made a solid 44 from 74 balls with six fours and put on 64 for the third wicket with Ami Campbell.

Campbell, who spent a loan spell with Worcestershire Women’s Rapids during their successful ECB County Cup T20 campaign, top-scored with 50 off 75 deliveries with eight boundaries.

Play at New Road next Saturday in the Sparks-Diamonds match will get underway at 10.30am. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here
