Tom Fell is part of the Worcestershire Seconds side for the three-day friendly with Sussex Seconds at Kidderminster beginning tomorrow (11am start).
Fell indicated earlier in the month that there was the possibility of him playing some second team cricket if he felt well enough.
He participated in an internal T20 practice match involving first team, second eleven and academy players at New Road on Wednesday.
Fell is battling against cancer and underwent the second of three bouts of chemotherapy earlier this month.
Fellow batsman Alexei Kervezee is also selected in the side by Second Eleven coach Kevin Sharp.
The Dutch international was named in the squad for the opening Specsavers County Championship clash with Kent but has made way for Moeen Ali for the squad chosen for the current game with Gloucestershire at Bristol.
Paceman Charlie Morris is also included in the team.
He was part of the 12 man squad named for Bristol but was not chosen in the starting eleven.
George Rhodes will skipper the side and Alex Milton will keep wicket for the opening home fixture of the season.
