EDAVALATH HALF CENTURY AS BARNARDS GREEN COMPLETE QUICKFIRE BPL WIN

Rehaan Edavalath struck an unbeaten half century as Barnards Green defeated Walsall by nine wickets in a Birmingham and District Premier League fixture.

Edavalath, who recently signed his first professional rookie contract for Worcestershire, helped his side chase down a 114 target in only 15.1 overs.

His unbeaten 59 came from 51 balls with 11 boundaries.

Pace bowler Josh Tongue had been scheduled to bowl 10 overs for Barnards Green as part of his comeback from a shoulder injury.

But the quickness with which his team bowled out Walsall, in just 27.2 overs, meant he was restricted to a spell of 4-1-9-1.

Keeper-batter Henry Cullen, part of the Worcestershire Rapids Royal London Cup squad, made 50 for Kenilworth Wardens (296-7) in their 18 run win over Halesowen (278 all out).

Taylor Cornall hit 34 and picked up four wickets as Ombersley (374-6) defeated Shrewsbury (286) by 88 runs.

Josh Dell made a half century for Ombersley and there was also exactly 100 for ex Worcestershire opener, Daryl Mitchell.

Ed Pollock was in a hurry with 31 not out from 12 balls as Barnt Green needed only four overs to complete victory after bowling out Knowle and Dorridge for 43 thanks to Pathway Coach Andy Sutton’s 7-20.

Tom Fell (52) was amongst the runs for Wolverhampton (216-7) as they edged out Harborne (214-9) by two runs.

Pathway Player, Callum Bennett’s 73 was in vain for Kidderminster (238) as they went down by 46 runs to Moseley (284-6).
