CULLEN REWRITES RECORD BOOKS WITH DOUBLE CENTURY FOR SECONDS

Henry Cullen rewrote the record books by making the highest ever score by a Worcestershire player in Second Eleven Championship cricket during the four-day encounter with Northamptonshire at Dunstable.

The keeper-batter hit a magnificent 234 after batting for more than seven hours in a Worcestershire total of 616-8 declared.

Cullen surpassed the previous highest score by a Worcestershire player in the competition of 223 by Tom Fell against MCC Young Cricketers – then part of the Second Eleven Championship – at Barnt Green in 2017.

The 21-year-old came in at 119-2 and ended the opening day on 151 and he continued on in the same vein on day two.

Cullen struck 28 fours in his 310 ball knock before he was eighth out at 570.

He featured in a new Worcestershire record partnership for the eighth wicket in Second Eleven Championship cricket of 203 with Harry Darley who also struck a century.

His 106 from 185 balls contained 12 boundaries.

Worcestershire’s total was also their second highest ever in the Second Eleven Championship.
